OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTING EDUCATOR AWARD

 

Congratulations. You have been nominated for the TXCPA Outstanding Accounting Educator Award. This award recognizes Texas accounting educators who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and have distinguished themselves through active service to the accounting profession. The awards give profession-wide recognition to the recipients along with promoting role models in academe.

Award recipients will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon at the Annual Meeting on June 28, 2024 in Frisco, TX. Recipients will also be honored before their peers during TXCPA's annual Accounting Education Conference October 18-19 in San Antonio. Recipients receive a $500 award and complimentary registration to the conference.

One Outstanding Accounting Educator Award may be awarded in each category (community college, small, medium, and large university or college). Awards will not be given in categories where judges determine that the entries do not merit them. The Outstanding Accounting Educator Awards are funded by the Accounting Education Foundation to honor those with a history of excellence in education.

Eligiblity Criteria:

  • Nominee must be a full-time accounting educator at a Texas college, university or community college, where for three of the last five years the educator’s primary responsibility has been teaching in the classroom.
  • Nominee is not required to be a licensed CPA.
  • To be considered for the award, please complete a nominee profile at the link below. Nominees will be asked for recommendations from students and the department chair.

Some of the criteria considered in selecting a candidate for this award include:

  • Must be a full-time accounting educator at a Texas college, university or community college, where for three of the last five years the educator’s primary responsibility has been teaching in the classroom. Recipient is not required to be a licensed CPA.
  • Excellence in classroom teaching as evidenced through teaching philosophy, innovation in the classroom, and pursuit of practical learning opportunities for students.
  • Contributions to the accounting profession as evidenced through involvement and accomplishments in professional accounting organizations, involvement and accomplishments in student accounting organizations, research accomplishments and publications.
